ELF Western Conference Starting QB Breakdown
After the completion of the 2023 European League of Football (ELF) season, ALL22’s scouts did a thorough ranking of every position group in the league. This was used as an evaluation tool and resource for the understanding of this ever-growing league. With that in-depth analysis from our pro-trained scouts, we will refer back to those rankings in spots to help readers gain context, along with detailed player descriptions. We hope this is an added layer for scouts and readers from all our leagues and countries that are evaluating the ELF for potential player additions or insights.
The ELF is a growing force in the global football landscape and features a ton of European and American players with high-level pro experience. With the 2024 ELF season now having started, today we’re looking at the current Western Conference starting quarterbacks.

He started with the Hamburg Sea Devils in 2021 before joining Rhein in 2022. He had a massive MVP and championship season last year, tossing an incredible 53 TD’s. ALL22 graded him as the top QB out of 18 qualifiers last year.
Video:
Player snapshot: Solid athlete who does well inside the pocket to make the first rusher miss, just not someone who is going to scare a defense with his legs. Plays with very good decision-making on short to intermediate pass concepts, able to work to his 2/3 reads with effective timing and anticipation. Elite accuracy and touch to hit his receivers in-stride across the field. Has a tendency to drift inside the pocket to the side he is reading and put himself in pass rush lanes. On deeper pass concepts, he is guilty of getting stuck on his first read, forcing passes into crowded areas. His production was unmatched, but he did play with a stacked receiving deck in comparison to other QB’s in the league.
QB Luke Zahradka (Frankfurt Galaxy) - Bentley University (2009-12)
Citizenship: USA/Italy
Height: 6046e | Weight: 231e
ELF Career Stats: 15 GP | 10 GS | 351 CMP | 605 ATT | 58.0% | 4,190 YDS | 31 TD | 18 INT | 6.93 YPA | 76 CAR | 264 YDS | 4 RUSH TD | 3.47 YPC | 1 REC | 5 YDS | 1 REC TD | 5.0 YPR | 3 FMB
ELF Player Awards: N/A
Background: Luke began his pro career in 2013 with a one year stint with the Kirchdorf Wildcats in the GFL 2. He then had one season with Spartiates d'Amiens in the FFFA. He spent 2015 in Italy with the Ancona Dolphins, before playing a year in the Austrian Football League with the Prague Black Panthers of the Czech Republic. He spent 2017-23 with the Milano Seamen, getting his first ELF action last season. ALL22 ranked him as the 7th best QB last year.
Video:
Player snapshot: Adequate athlete to extend plays with his legs as both a passer and runner. Shows very good processing skills and anticipation/timing to work through his reads. He manipulates coverages with his eyes well and locates open targets in the short to intermediate levels. His ball placement on high velocity throws tends to scatter, which can make it difficult for his receivers to run after the catch. Struggles to consistently maintain effective mechanics and accuracy with pressure in his face.
QB Zach Edwards (Paris Musketeers) - The College of St. Scholastica (2016-19)
Citizenship: USA
Height: 6030v | Weight: 216v | Hand: 8 6/8v | Arm: 30 7/8v | Wingspan: 73v | 40: 4.93v | 10: N/A | 20: N/A | Shuttle: 4.37v | 3-Cone: 6.97v | Broad: 9’3”v | Vertical: 29.5v | Bench: N/A
ELF Career Stats: 37 GP | 36 GS | 751 CMP | 1,303 ATT | 57.6% | 9,621 YDS | 94 TD | 35 INT | 7.38 YPA | 332 CAR | 1,519 YDS | 16 RUSH TD | 4.58 YPC | 1 REC | 31 YDS | 1 REC TD | 31.0 YPR | 18 FMB | 2 KO | 63 YDS | 31.5 AVG
ELF Player Awards:
2022 2nd Team All-Star
Background: Prior to the ELF, Edwards had one season with Spanish club, Pioners de L'Hospitalet, in 2020. He then spent a couple seasons with the Barcelona Dragons before moving over to Paris last season. The former MVP-finalist will look to have another strong season in 2024. ALL22 graded him as the 11th best QB last year.
Video:
Player snapshot: Sneaky good athlete who flashes lateral quickness to elude defenders and is a long-strider with good open-field acceleration. Shows good read/react skills on predetermined reads with nice accuracy at all levels when he sets his feet. Displays very good arm strength to thread the needle into tight windows and flashes the ability to make impressive throws when extending the play outside the pocket. Struggles with eye discipline, as he stares down his desired read and telegraphs throws. He isn't afraid to throw into tight coverage, but more awareness for realistic windows would help cut down on the unnecessary risk. Spot-starter who fits an offense that features RPO’s and play-action shots with downhill designed QB runs.
